We talked with Dr. Botti this afternoon, and asked him some questions about things that we were worried about. Apparently the thick skin that they observed can be a sign of heart problems. As people with heart failure can get swelling, so can babies in the womb. They are going to keep a close eye on this, and we'll take it from there. If they do decide that it's time for the baby to be born, they will try and induce labor. From here, there are several possibilities, first, she could go into labor, and the baby reacts well to active labor. If that happens, they will just deliver the baby normally. The second is that Kari goes into labor, and the baby does not like labor. Then, they will do a Ceasarian. Third, Kari could not go into labor, then they will do a C-section. The Doc says that the third is not likely, as Kari's been more or less about to go into labor for a while now. Keep in mind though, that these three options only come into play if things get worse. Right now, things are going well enough to just keep a close eye on things.

In Kari's NST today, it looked like her contractions are getting a little bit closer together and more organized than they have been. This isn't anything to worry about, but it does signal to me that the end is in sight. To throw another cliche out there, we see the light at the end of the tunnel, let's just hope that it's not a train. Tomorrow is 35 weeks. It really doesn't feel like we've been in the hospital for 5 weeks. Suprisingly it's gone faster than that. On the other hand, it feels like I've been out of work for a looooong time. I've been trying to keep up with things via the 'net while I'm here, but unfortunately the combination of the stress, hospital, and hectic scheduling with nurses, doctors, etc. has made me much less productive than I would like to be. I'd like to thank Dion and Eric at work for being so understanding of things.
