25 Aug '04 - 248 W - + 18 - 11 A surprise ultrasound...sorry Dan!

Today was another Dan-mows-our-lawn day, so he left after breakfast to do that.  The docs said earlier this week that they were planning to do an ultrasound on Thursday, so we figured that today was a good day for him to leave.  However, in the middle of my NST, they came around with the wheelchair and said that the ultrasound room was ready for me now...so much for planning.

Anyway, the technician didn't say much about the scan as usual.  The baby is about 5 lbs. 6 oz. now (+/- 13 oz) which is apparently in the 47th percentile (almost average) for size.  The rest of him looks the same as it has, except his tummy isn't so small compared to the rest of him now.  They also said that his skin looks thick in some places.  I'm not sure exactly what that means, or even if that is something to be concerned about, so we'll have to ask the docs the next time they wake me from a sound sleep.  They are also working on scheduling another ultrasound of his heart next week, with the cardiologist.  They might be able to tell us a little more about the condition of his heart at that point, but I'm pretty sure that most of the details are going to have to wait until he is born.  Until then, it's back to my Alaskan-sized latch hook!
