What a crazy little boy Jack is. He has been working very hard lately at learning how to move around like everyone else in the house. (He'd already mastered the cats' walk.) He's been standing by himself pretty often, but whenever we try to get him to walk, he just goes to his knees and starts crawling. Today, he was standing at the couch, and saw me a couple feet away, also sitting against the couch, and without a second thought, lunged to get to me. So, he took his first two steps!! Of course, they were crazy and unstable, but he did it! Hack has also been making great progress in his vocabulary. Some of his favorite words now are giraffe, down, no, downstairs, horse, and book. He LOVES to read too. He'll sit on the floor for 30 minutes just reading his animal books, saying the animals' names, and then making some of the sounds too. He can do a the sounds for a pig, a cow, an owl, a lion, an elephant, a monkey, a cat, a dog, and a duck to name most of them. It's really funny to listen to.

We all went today to a Cardiac Kids picnic at a local orchard. They invite families with kids who have heart disease, and have a little picnic. We got to go apple-picking too, and Alex and Jack just might have their picture in the paper tomorrow. I'll post it if they do! They have a American Heart Association walk in Albany in October, so I think we'll walk in that too. It could be a lot of fun!

Don’t even get me started on the AHA, at least as far as CHD is concerned. My friend’s son was the child chair for our local Heart Walk last year.

I remember you talking about that. I know that the AHA isn’t targeting kids. Perhaps we should start or support something that will?
