22 Mar '07 - 217 W - + 21 - 13 Ouch!

Yesterday marked the first time that Alex got to visit the emergency room for something other than what he was born with.  (Don't worry, he's fine.)  We went to the pool yesterday for our parent/tot swim class, and afterwards, Alex was walking up and down the concrete stairs by the pool while I got our stuff together.  He lost his balance on the way down, and ended up landing on the back of his head a couple of stairs down.  He started crying immediately, so I picked him up and realized that he had a 1-inch long bleeding gash on the back of his head.  So, the lifeguards called an ambulance, and Alex now has 5 staples and a really nasty bump to show for it all.  He hasn't shown any signs of a concussion or anything...though the doc said that the cut was about one layer from exposing his skull.  Ick.  Anyway, he's fine now, acting like his old self.  The only exception is that he can't lay down on the back of his head, which is making sleeping more difficult for him, as well as making diaper changes for difficult for us.  We'll go in about a week to have the staples removed.

Ouch is right. At least this is “normal” stuff. Stay well and maybe see you this weekend.
