+ 0 - 0 | § Mother's Day, a Restaurant Review, etc.

Today is Mother's Day.  We've sort of made it into Mother's Weekend.  Not really, but my gift to Kari this year was essentially a bunch of books, and an order to read as much of them as she could over the weekend, with the idea that I would have the kids.  So far it seems to have gone reasonably well.  Kari even got a chance to go out and wash and wax the car.  Seriously, she had fun doing that.  That's Kari.  Plus, Alex helped out as well.  We figure it's the third time that car has been washed, and it's near four years old, so it was about due.

We went to a Korean/Japanese restaurant last night that they just put in a little ways from our house.  I was really psyched to go there, because there isn't any other Korean place near here that I know of, and I really wanted it to be good.  However, it really really wasn't.  Kari had a teriyaki beef box, with a bunch of other things in it.  Pretty much everything else in the box besides the beef tasted like she was eating a pound of salt, and the beef itself looked very much like the excrement of a dog with severe digestional trauma.  I ordered the spicy stir fried squid with vegetables.  The spicing was ok (really spicy, as expected), but the squid was extremely overcooked, and took substancial effort to chew through.  This was beyond rubber bands.  This was like chewing a rubber stopper.  I wasn't sure that I would actually be able to break some of the pieces up.

Alex went to his second swim class yesterday.  He seems to like the class.  They pretty much all line up on the side of the pool, and take turns while about 4-5 teachers pick them up, and pull them around the pool, while they practice different techniques, like kicking, or paddling with their hands, or blowing bubbles.  For the most part, they don't really learn anything other than it can be fun to splash around in the water, which is good enough at this point.
