If your child has diarrhea, don't take him to a confined room to spend two hours with three other children. Jack has been sick since Saturday, and I have had mountains of laundry to do as a result. That is, of course, not to speak of the grumpy baby whose tummy hurts. Alex caught a cold too, so it's been quite the week. Luckily, it's been gorgeous outside, so we've spent a lot of time out in the backyard. Our neighbors have quite a few children, and they've actually been helping me. THey come over and occupy Alex, so I've been able to finish about 90% of our fall cleanup. (Yes, I wrote what I meant.)
We have an exciting weekend ahead. Our friend from college, Guenter, is getting married in Philly, so we're all trekking down for a long weekend. We'll be at their rehearsal dinner tomorrow night, then the wedding on Saturday, and then we're planning to take a day to see the Adventure Aquarium in Camden. Wish us luck for an uneventful drive and a good (diarrhea free?) weekend!!

Alex has been determined to not need extra help to catch up with his language skills. Today is his last session of speech therapy. This is sort of bittersweet. On the one hand, it's great that he's not in the bottom percentile of language skills, and no longer needs the help. On the other hand, he's not getting extra help. In a sort of selfish way, I'd kind of like to have his advance in skills fall through the cracks, and have him receive extra help even though he's not in the bottom. At least it seems that he's not just on the cusp of needing help, but instead being well within the average range.
We're trying to figure out what we are going to do for Alex for the summer. We'd like to send him to some sort of day camp, mainly to give him things to do. Kari and I find it hard to get out and do fun things while balancing the two kids nap and eating schedules. Having a scheduled event to go to several days a week would certainly be fun for Alex. Now the part is to pick which one(s) we want to sign him up for.
Jack has been sleeping a bit better recently. It's not official that he's been sleeping through the night, but he's been giving us quite a few days that he's been sleeping through till 7. This is really cool. On top of that, we have moved his crib into his own room, so that now our bedroom is our bedroom. I'm amazed at being able to get up in the morning, and not having to tip toe out of the room, or going to bed, and actually being able to get ready for bed in our room, sometimes even with the light on!
Kari mentioned this before, but Jack has become much more mobile lately. The other day, I left him alone in the living room to go to the kitchen for a bit. I came back into the room, and he had gotten into the tissues. I was able to save about half a box of tissues. The rest had to be thrown away.
