+ 0 - 0 | § ¶Harry the Hippo
We've been having some problems for a while now between Alex and Kujo. All of the traits that Kujo has that make him pretty much the best cat ever all go against him when dealing with Alex. He is persistent in trying to get attention from Alex, even if that means that Alex is beating up on him. He'll put up with Alex pulling his fur, or jumping on top of him, sticking his fingers in his eyes, you name it. All of this gets by without a scratch, or his. The worst that happens is that he'll squeak a bit, run 2 feet away, and sit back down again. If Alex doesn't immediately get up and start again, Kujo will get up and walk right back to him, and put his head in his hand and try to get him to scratch him. We've been trying for probably more than a year now to teach him to be nice to the cat, with minor success. There was a point where we were really afraid that the cat was going to get hurt. Now that point is gone, but it has been replaced with constant reprimands and time outs. A normal day would have him sitting in the hall half a dozen times or more for being mean to the cat. We got to the point where we had threatened to give Kujo away to Abby for some time, if Alex didn't start treating him better. Then, Kari came up with an idea. She got out a large stuffed hippo, named it Harry, and told Alex that he could pet Kujo, but anything else that he wanted to do, he should do to Harry instead. He was allowed to do anything he wanted to Harry. So, this involved much of dragging Harry around by his tail, up and down stairs, tackling, bear-hugging, etc. There was even a cringe-worthy moment where he kept saying "I'm going to make Harry dead!" with a huge smile on his face. I know that he doesn't know what he's saying, but that was pretty hard to hear. But, with Harry around, he's been treating Kujo much better. I'm not sure if this will just be a fad that goes away, but I hope it isn't.+ 0 - 0 | § ¶Some more teething, maybe
So we think that Jack may be teething again. We have about a 10% success rate when determining when kids are teething, but we were right last time, so maybe we'll be right again?
Kari and I got to go out Sunday night and saw the movie Juno. We really liked it. It was pretty funny, and the soundtrack was pretty interesting too. I'm not sure that I would like the soundtrack by itself, as it was a bit quirky, but it fit the movie just right.
