+ 0 - 0 | § A nice weekend

Kari has been trying a new routine to get Jack into bed for the last couple of nights, and it has been working well.  Granted, it's only two points of data, but he's only gotten up once a night for the last couple of nights, and has gotten to sleep pretty quickly.  It involves her nursing him in our room before setting him down to sleep, while he's still a little awake, so that he gets himself to sleep by himself.  We've both been able to catch up on a little bit of sleep, which has been nice.

Kari and I went out on a date by ourselves last night.  Abby came over and babysat.  We went to check out a new place near us, Sakura for sushi.  We have a variety of stuff, and it was all pretty good, and we had a good time.  It's nice to go out every once in a while, and pretend that we have some freedom.

Alex has taken to trying to dole out insults to people lately.  We've been trying to nerf this a bit.  I wrote a while back about calling each other fiddler crabs.  He told Kari "You suck" the other day.  Kari, thought fast, and turned it into "You shuck corn."  This has stuck, and is now the insult of choice.

We took the boys to the high school pool today.  It's a pretty nice place, and we had some fun.  Alex still has some work to do to get used to the water, but it looks like he's having fun.  Jack seemed a little bit concerned about the process, but I think that he'll be loving it in no time.

+ 0 - 0 | § Somewhat better

The boys appear to have mostly gotten over their illnesses.  Alex still has a lingering cough and a little bit of a runny nose, but overall things are ok healthwise.  Alex got to go back to preschool yesterday, so that made him happy.  Jack has actually rolled over from his back to his stomach a couple of times, so that has been a milestone.  Kari had hime trying to pull his legs under him today, as if he was starting to think about crawling.  This is different from my experience so far, where he just wants to lock his legs, because he wants to stand up.

Jack has been having some more difficulies coordinating his sleep schedule with ours.  He's gone back to waking up a few times a night at best.  At worst, he's been known to scream for several hours on end.  We're not sure what we need to do to stop this.  We've got several ideas right now, but unfortunately, none of them are easy fixes, and none of them are guaranteed to work.  For now, we've just been dealing with a lack of sleep the best way that we know how, soldiering through it.  It's too bad that Kari has to take the brunt of this, but right now, she's the one that can get Jack to sleep.  I'm ok to play with, but apparently going to sleep is Mommy's job.  I hope that we can get past that too.  I'm not too sure that it's going to get better in the immediate future though, because we can start seeing separation anxiety creeping in.  It's becoming harder and harder for Kari to leave the room for an extended period of time.
