+ 0 - 1 | § Continued progress on the potty front

Alex has continued in his progress towards being potty trained.  He's gone poop in the potty for the last four days, and without an accident during the day for the last few days as well.  He hasn't been making it through the night yet, but that's something that we'll work on.  We're very proud of him.  As a reward, he gets a match box car every day that he goes poop in the potty.  This evening, he did his business right before going to bed.  Kari told him that he would not be able to play with his car until the next day.  She assumed that he would throw a fit, but he calmly went and put the car in the play room, and went to bed without any fuss!  Amazing.

Jack has been developing more of a personality lately.  This more accurately translates to "he's starting to throw bigger fits to get what he wants."  Monday night, Kari and I were up until sometime around 3:30 or 4:00 AM (the finiteness of time ceases to exist at that hour) yelling and screaming because he did not want to go to sleep for some reason.

Jack's been making some great strides in his physical abilities.  He's getting closer to being able to roll over or sit up.  Agh, that sounds like we're training a dog.  When I help him sit up, I generally have to apply only a little pressure to keep him from falling over, that is, unless he wants to fall over, and then I have to work hard to fight him from slamming his head on the ground.  Yesterday, we crossed a turning point.  It was the first time he reached up and grabbed the spoon I was using to feed him.  That is a critical point that makes feeding him much harder.  From this point on, we have to go through a phase where feeding gets harder as he builds his defenses, and then it will get easier, as he learns to want food.

+ 1 - 0 | § Proud mama

Alex is doing really really well with this potty training thing.  Today, he pooed on the potty by himself without prompting, learned to put on his underwear and his pants by himself, and had no accidents.  I'm sure there will be some back and forth, but I am so glad that we stuck to our guns on Saturday (thanks to Dan - I was sick and more than happy to take the easy way out).  Alex refused to even put a pull-up on tonight because in his words, "I don't need it."  I'm sure that that will result in a wet morning, but that's okay.  He's learning really quickly.

Jack is making great strides too.  He's eating solids now...even opening and closing his mouth, especially for squash.  He started to "spit" this weekend, which is entirely cute, and his grabs are really starting to be fruitful.  I'm a very proud mama!!
