+ 0 - 0 | § ¶Guy Aye Fooey!
Alex has started to incorporate his favorite phrase into everyday conversation. Whenever he's feeling silly, he'll call someone or something Guy Aye Fooey. Sometimes he'll replace a word with Guy Aye Fooey. I have no idea where it came from, but it's really cute.
Alex and I went to the fish store today and got another fish. I have been trying unsuccessfully to get an arowana for the tank, but it keeps falling through. We drove down to a store in Albany, and found that they had a slightly more exotic breed of arowana. This one goes by many names it turns out. Sceleropages jardinii is called Jardini Arowana, Gulf Saratoga, northern saratoga, Australian bonytongue, toga and barramundi. I'm particularly fond of the name Barramundi, so that's what I'm going to go with for the moment. For anyone interested, there is some more information available here, here, and here. No, not the good kind. All of us here in the Norton household had to get shots this week. Dan, Alex, and I had flu shots. Jack had his four-month round of immunizations. We are all recovering well from the trauma. Actually, all is going pretty well here. I had a cold for about two weeks, but I'm finally getting back to normal. Alex has really been doing well all around. He is loving preschool and had a good time playing Bob the Builder for the first half of the week. He is especially enjoying the candy. The kid loves chocolate.
Jack (as mentioned before) had his four-month checkup today. 17 lbs and 26" long - top 10% of kids his age for height, weight, and head size. The funny thing is that we went out for dinner tonight and met a 10-week-old who was 16 lbs, 13 oz. That's crazy. Anyway, Jack is starting to have a neat little personality. He smiles, laughs, coos, and loves to kick. He's also beginning to be able to grab for toys and shove them frantically into his mouth. I think we're going to start trying some solid foods with him this weekend.
+ 1 - 0 | § ¶Some progress
Alex went poopy on the potty for the first time by himself on Saturday. We've been working on this for some time now, and it's nice to see some progress. He hasn't had a repeat since then, but something is better than nothing. We also converted his bed into a toddler bed, so now he can get in and out on his own. He's been doing well with that. He hasn't been getting out of bed when we put him in. That was something that we were worried about.
Alex is going as Bob the Builder this year for Halloween. He's already worn the costume twice this week. On Monday, he went with a group to a retirement community. Today, he wore his costume to pre-school for a Halloween party, and tomorrow is Halloween. I'm looking forward to going out trick-or-treating with him tomorrow. He had loads of fun last year, and I am guessing that this year will be even better.
