Ever since we got back from Thanksgiving, Alex has taken a pretty good step forward in eating. It must have been that he saw us all gorging ourselves on turkey! Actually, I guessing that it's because we dropped him back to only one 7 ounce bolus during the night. He's been eating at least a container of food per meal, and sometimes the equivalent of two! It looks like we're not going to have to order any more Pediasure, as it looks like he stands a good chance of being off of bolus feeding by Christmas. Now we have to get him drinking more. Right now he's still getting the vast majority of his water by tube, in the form of three 7 ounce water boluses throughout the day. We're going to have to take a little more conservative route to wean him off of that, as you don't mess around with dehydration, especially with someone with heart conditions. Now I just have to tell myself that this is probably a high in his sinusoidal eating behavior, but I can't, because I'm just too happy with the way things are progressing!

I am, as I write this right now, laughing my butt off. Alex has been fussing a little bit tonight, and when I went upstairs to check on him, the little munchkin has no pants and no socks on. This is funny because the same thing happened last night. Apparently, Alex has figured out how to undress his lower half! I just can't stop laughing...+ 0 - 0 | § ¶Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! This is the first Thanksgiving where I have felt truly thankful for something. This time last year, Alex was recovering from his esophagus surgery, still in the hospital, without any prospects of leaving for Christmas. We were lucky and did end up getting the Christmas at home experience, but on Thanksgiving, we were much less hopeful, and very down. We weren't able to see family because we couldn't bear to leave Alex alone on a holiday, and it was not a very good day overall.
But this year, we have so much to be happy for. Alex is home, healthy, and happy. That's all we could have hoped for and more. Please keep those in mind who have not been as fortunate, and have a great weekend!

Well, Alex and I are still sick. I had a mono test done on Friday and haven't heard anything yet. The nurse who took the blood said that I'd probably hear by Saturday if it was mono. Alex is just suffering from a stuffy nose and a cough, so things aren't too bad with him.Other than that, not much is going on here. We're just trying to figure out what we're doing for Christmas gifts (like everyone else), and doing what we can to stay sane in this busy season.
