There is so much going on with Alex these days, that we sometimes actually forget that we still have feeding issues and stuff like that! I am LOVING this fall because he is making so much progress and is just having the time of his life. In any case, for those of you who wonder, here is the medical stuff.About a week or so ago, we discovered that Alex had managed to get his feeding tube wrapped around his neck while sleeping. At the time, we were just starting to wean his night feeds, but this really scared us. Before that point, he was taking maybe a 3-4 ounce bolus (tube meal) at a time, and was taking about 20 ounces of formula overnight. Now, about a week later, he is taking just two 7-ounce boluses of food at night. This means a few things. One, he is off the feeding pump entirely. Two, he is taking bigger meals, and his food ends earlier in the night...which leads to better eating during the day because he's hungier. Over the next few weeks, we're going to be decreasing his food at night by about 2-3 ounces a week. If Alex continues to gain weight, or even if he levels off, he may be off tube feeds by Christmas. His tube would be left in for a while to be sure that his progress is permanent, but he's taking huge steps towards being a tubeless kid!!

As it turns out, neither Dan nor I have strep. We both saw doctors and had negative strep tests. The bad news is that my doctor is convinced now that I have mono. I am going to go for a blood test on Friday to confirm, but with the exception of some other viruses that I don't want to have, mono is one of the few that produces the symptoms that I have. The good news is that all of those people I saw this weekend are probably safe, unless you drank from my glass.+ 0 - 0 | § ¶Walking and sore throats
So, our little family went on a trip to PA this weekend, visiting with Grandmas and Great Grandmas and Aunts and Uncles...Alex was fantastic. He spent one day showing off his new walking skills (he can now walk 6-8 feet by himself!), and his amazing temperment (and sometimes just temper). He didn't even break any of Great Grandma Shores' salt and pepper shakers! In other news, the rest of the family is sick. I have been diagnosed with a probable strep throat, and have been in pain since Friday. I'm on antibiotics now, but they aren't working yet, so I'm going to see my doctor today. We're also going to have Alex tested for strep in the hopes that, if he does have it, we can nip it in the bud before it gets to the state that mine is in. I think that he'd end up in the hospital if he got what I have, and none of us want that. Daddy is also showing symptoms, so he's going to the doc today too. Wish us luck!
