Dan mentioned in his last post that Alex was eating pretty well on Friday.  Saturday was a very good day too, with Alex setting a new record for the amount of liquid he drank in a day.  He had about 11-12 ounces of juice yesterday, far surpassing his previous record of 6 ounces.  He also ate some pancakes for breakfast (a first and very yummy), and half a bowl of miso soup at Grandma's birthday dinner (including some of the tofu).  Days like today get our hopes up, but he'll change his mind about wanting to eat soon enough!  It's just nice to know that he can do it.

Kari, Alex and I are in New Jersey at my parent's house to celebrate my mom's birthday.  Alex had a bit of a time adjusting to the different bed this evening, protesting the situation by standing in his crib, and throwing binkies while screaming at the top of his lungs.  He's got quite an arm on him, and I'm fairly certain we're going to lose some binkies in unknown hiding spots.  After a little bit, he calmed down, and went to sleep, and hasn't stirred much since.

The last couple of days have been quite good as far as eating.  He ate a jar of food in the course of about 4 meals in a little over a day yesterday and today, and for dinner tonight, he ate half a jar of carrots and beef.  We found out that he likes small pieces of donuts and wheat bread, which surprised the OT, as the bready texture is often hard to take, because it gums up.  But, after all, who could resist donuts?  And apple cider donuts to boot!

He's got a busy day of grandparent mooching planned for tomorrow, so it's time to get some rest.

Alex decided today that cheerios weren't really as good as he thought they were yesterday.  I really should know better than to get my hopes up so high with Alex's eating.  I have to take into account that there are good days, ok days, and bad days.  There isn't going to be any magic bullet that will make Alex decide that he wants to start eating completely by mouth.  I have to be patient and notice the gradual process that he is making.
