Alex tried Cheerios this evening for the first time, and they went over surprisingly well. He basically started shoving them in his mouth, one after another. Whether they stayed in his mouth after he shoved them in is another matter though. He seemed to keep about 50% of them in overall, which, all in all, is pretty good. I think that he managed to eat about half a cup of cheerios or more (net). I think that this was one of his best meals that I have seen him eat.+ 0 - 0 | § ¶Alls quiet on the western front
Things have been going on smoothly lately, more or less. Alex has been getting more steady on his feet, leaning on things, and has become quite the turbo crawler, especially when either mommy or a cat is the destination. We've had a bit of an issue in the nights where his feeding tube comes undone, and he wakes up in the middle of the night, covered in formula. He has the ability to sleep through just about anything, so whenever he does wake up, it's generally after alot of food has come out, and he's drenched and shivering. Hopefully, we've got that issue worked out by replacing the tube.+ 0 - 0 | § ¶Feeling a bit better
Alex has pretty much recovered from his cold. All that's left is a bit of a runny nose. The ear problems are still giving him a bit of trouble, but overall, he's back to the usual happy smiley boy that we know and love. We've been working with the surgeon, nutritionist, nurse, occupational therapist, physical therapist, and Alex to be a bit more aggressive in the feeding plan. We've been trying to give him his nightly food at a faster rate through the pump, so that he spends more time during the day without food in his stomach, so that perhaps he'll be more hungry and more receptive to eating. Additionally, we're working out the plan to gradually start reducing the tube food that he gets. It's difficult organizing such a large team to come to a consensus on the plan though. In addition, we'll have to keep a closer eye on his weight, just to make sure that he is still gaining the appropriate weight.
