So, it's official. Alex has his very first diagnosed ear infection. I took him to the doctor on Friday because he was really unhappy and lethargic. Now, he's on antibiotics and back to getting into trouble. Ahh...the joys of being a parent.+ 0 - 0 | § ¶the sniffles
Alex has got a case of the sniffles, leading to some post nasal drip. For most people this wouldn't be too bad, but it leads to some coughing fits, which can lead to un-eating, as we experienced last night. Alex takes the whole deal in stride, going back to being happy and smiling quite quickly after the episode is over, but unfortunately it did cause some interuption in his sleep. Here's hoping that he gets better quickly!+ 0 - 0 | § ¶New arrivals!
Dan was playing with Alex this evening, and turned him upside down only to find that Alex is sprouting more teeth! He has one out on the top, and the one next to it should show itself any day now. Yesterday, Alex fell against our coffee table, landing on his upper jaw...we're wondering if that had anything to do with the sudden appearance of the teeth. His gums were bleeding a bit; perhaps he sped up the process. In other news, Alex was weighed today at 19 lbs., 5 oz. Only 11 oz to go and he can sit facing forward in the car seat! Yeah! He's crawling like a champ now, and starting this morning, has been sitting up in his crib when he wakes up. (This is an accomplishment because it was only last week that he figured out that he could sit up by himself.) Alex is also "cruising" really well. He can walk around things like the coffee table, his play table, and his exersaucer without any problem and has gotten pretty good at picking things up from the floor without falling over. He and I have also been visiting more with the other kids (and mothers) in the neighborhood. It's been a pretty good time lately.
Medically, Alex is doing pretty well these days. He had an upper GI study on Friday to see how his esophagus looks. We'll get the results at an appt. tomorrow. A dietician, a nurse, his OT, and I met today to talk about his feeds. We're going to decrease his formula a little to make him a little hungrier so that hopefully he'll take more by mouth. This is all in the effort to get Alex back to tubeless.
