We're home! Alex and I drove home from Maine yesterday, so Alex is now having a good time in his own bed with his own kitties and some clean clothes. Our last few days there were pretty great, especially Thursday. Alex did a lot of really neat things. First, he drank almost 4 ounces of his juice! That is twice as much as he's ever had before, so it was pretty darn exciting. Second, he spent about five minutes on his hands and knees while his Aunt Abby blew bubbles for him. Then, we went to sit in the boat and play, and he decided to demonstrate that he could stand up all by himself!! That was really neat, but a little scary, because I wasn't expecting it and he tried to go overboard!Finally...if that weren't enough...drumroll please...HE WENT IN THE LAKE! Before Thursday, if you even stuck his feet in the water, he'd cry. Well, Abby stuck his feet in the water, and he was okay, so she stuck his legs in. He was still ok. Then, she went all the way to his thighs, and again, he was fine. So, we decided to stop for a while, but it was pretty hot, so Abby went swimming. Alex seemed interested in her, so I got in the water, and took him with me. Another half an hour or so later, Abby had Alex in up to his chest in water, and he wasn't screaming! It was a good day for Alex.
One of those days last week, we (Grandma, Grandpa, Alex, and I) went out to eat in Belgrade Lakes. It was a really nice restaurant, and Alex was a perfect gentleman. Afterwards, we went to the back of the place, where there were some very tame ducks to feed. For those of you who read regularly, you know that Alex has a thing for ducks. One of them actually pecked his toes, which he thought was hilarious! Pictures will come as soon as I get a chance to post them.
The drive home was awful...I spent more than an hour and a half on a 20-mile stretch of highway in NH, then hit some really nasty weather in Mass. All the while, Alex was screaming because he was tired of his car seat. About 9 hours later, we got home safe and sound.
And finally...today, to properly end our vacation, we went to a hibachi restaurant for dinner. Alex was such a good boy that he just sat there and played with his pretzels and toys, and Dan and I had a very nice dinner. Now all I need is a vacation to recover from my vacation!
