Oh, what the heck! Someone has a first birthday coming up on August 30th!! To celebrate, we are going to be having a party for the little bugger on August 27th, at my Dad's house in the Poconos. If anyone is interested in coming, please email me or Dan, and we will mail an invitation. We may not have everyone's address, so if you could send that too, I would appreciate it!+ 0 - 0 | § ¶An accident
Today, as I was lifting Alex out of the excersaucer, his G-tube got caught up, and got pulled out, along with the mic-key button. The little balloon that was keeping it in popped, and it slipped out of him. Luckily, it didn't do any damage to his skin, and we were able to replace it with a spare that we have, but it did look like it hurt him pretty good. It tears my heart out to think that I was the cause of this. We were able to calm him down after a few minutes, and he's been pretty happy since then, so I'm hoping that the pain was just temporary. He's actually had the same button in there for about 9 months now, which is really quite long to keep one in, and looking at the one that came out, it looked like it was in pretty bad condition, and was due for replacement, but this was not the way to go about doing it. It looks like I'm going to have to find a way to spoil him tomorrow to make up for this.+ 0 - 0 | § ¶It's a whopper!
Alex's dilation today went well. They are tentatively scheduling him for his next one in five weeks, though the doc thinks that we may not need it. He also increased the doses on Alex's reflux meds, so hopefully that will help the issues we've been having with feeding lately.Oh, and Alex had a BIG weighing today...he was doing a lot of wiggling, but it looks like he weighs around (or just over) 17 lbs!!
Aso, Dan and I have both heard him say what we are pretty sure are his first words. On July 4th, Dan was mowing the lawn, and I was sitting out on our back prch with Alex watching Daddy mow. We got bored, so we turned around to look at Butter in the window, and even though the mower was behind me, I could have sworn he said "Cat!" A couple days later, Dan said that Alex looked at Kujo and said "key caaa," which to any hopeful parent sounds like "kitty cat." Yeah Alex!!

Apparently, sunchips are yummy. At least that's what Alex thinks. They are good until a small bit breaks off, and then they are coughy, but still good. Gimme gimme sunchips! Next up cheetos!+ 0 - 0 | § ¶Work, work, work.
It's been a while since we've posted anything, but we've been working pretty hard around the house, trying to get things finally moved in and organized. Alex is doing pretty well. As I posted in my last message, he's been having some problems with eating, and we're not quite sure what's causing them. He took a good amount of food today, so perhaps we're rounding the corner. He has a dilation on Thursday or Friday, so we'll talk to the surgeon then to see if we can get any further insight.Bathtime continues to improve. We've now had three non-screaming baths, all with the help of ducky. Dan has gotten our fish tank set up again, so we now have fish for him to look at, though he's not nearly as interested as he was earlier in life. I have to say though, we have the best baby toy ever...Kujo, our more desparately friendly kitty. Alex was laughing at him playing with a milk jug cap thingie for about five minutes the other morning...and when I say laughing, I mean big, belly laughing. Today, Kujo helped with PT, and he's also getting Alex to reach for things (ie, Kujo's tail), which is drastically improving his chances for crawling sometime soon. Who knew that a cat could be so darn useful? I thought they just sat around, slept, and licked themselves all day long!
