...he finished the next container!!! We've switched to peaches now, though. I hope he likes them as much as he liked the sweet potatoes. He is such a good little man!!+ 0 - 0 | § ¶Our first empty container!
A typical container of Stage 1 baby food has 2.5 oz of food, and can be kept in the fridge for up to three days before having to toss the remains. Today, we had our very first empty baby food container! It was the third day, but he not only ate the rest of the container, but he also made a good start on the next one! Yay, sweet potatoes with rice cereal!!It was like someone turned on a switch...we had dinner last night with Alex's surrogate grandparents, the Wiley's, and he ate really well then. Today, he made that look like small potatoes. He opened his mouth for the spoon, closed it around the spoon, and then wimpered for more if we took too long in getting it to him. This may be a phase, but Dan and I are very excited to see it.
Speaking of dinner last night, we had a rather interesting episode with a piece of asparagus. Dan gave it to Alex to see what he'd do, and Alex ended up chewing off some of the "leafy" end and kind of choking on it. Luckily, he was able to bring it back up and no harm done, but it reminded us that we have to be really careful about what food we let him experiment with.
Even so....we emptied a container!!!!!!!!! Let's end on a positive note, shall we?

It's been about three weeks since moving day now. We've gotten most of the boxes unpacked inside the house, though the garage is still full of unpacked boxes. The insurance stuff is still up in the air. We had to change insurance companies for the two weeks between our move and Dan starting his new job. I just received those ID cards today. Unfortunately, Alex is now on the insurance through GE...now we have to attempt to get ID cards from them. So far, though, they seem to be better than the people I was dealing with at the COBRA place. Of course, I'm still going to have to fight with both companies to cover the services that Alex had to have in the last three weeks. Ughh.Alex and I are trying to meet our new neighbors. The lady next door makes and embroiders bibs, believe it or not. She also has a 16 year old daughter that Dan and I are going to test out as a babysitter. She is going to spend an hour or two with Alex and I per week so that I can get some phone calls done, and we can see how she handles the baby. Hopefully, the trials will go well and Dan and I can go out once in a while. We need that.
We met Alex's new Physical Therapist (PT) today. She really seems nice, and Alex got along with her better than he did with his previous PT. She and I talked about increasing the frequency of his therapy to twice per week instead of once every other week. I'm excited to see what Alex does. He is showing so much progress in the last month...he's almost sitting up on his own (and in fact, can do it for about 5 seconds at a time), he's scooting on his back more, he's better with tummy time, and he's showing a lot more stamina in general. We see his new Occupational Therapist tomorrow...she's supposed to be excellent at feeding issues, so I'm looking forward to that too. So far, I think we've gotten very lucky with all of Alex's new docs.
Anyway, enough for tonight. It's 10PM and the little master is still wide awake and playing. Time to try to get him to bed?
