Alex went to the doctor today for his biweekly weighing, and four shots for his immunizations. He was a very good boy about the whole thing, and was upset far less than the boy in the neighboring room. I guess we are raising a tough boy. He's been learning to eat at a rate that's been amazing Kari and me. Every day he takes more and more by mouth, and he's actually opening up and saying "Ahh" when the spoon comes near his mouth. It's still not near enough to think about reducing what he gets by G-tube yet, but it's something, and that is very reassuring. At least we know he'll take something, and it may take time, but he'll eventually get to eating "normal" amounts. On another note, we had an "interesting" situation with our water recently. In selling our house, they did a test of our water, and found a very minor amount of bacteria, one CFU to be exact. It's not something that Kari or I worry about for ourselves, but to sell the house, it has to be zero. Anyway, that meant that we had to put bleach in the lines, let it sit overnight, and then flush the lines by letting the water run for a couple of hours. So, in the process of flushing, our 17 year old well pump decided to kick the bucket. The average lifespan of a well pump is about 10 years, so this is not unexpected, but I wish that it had decided to last a couple of months longer. On the plus side, I now know how to replace one of them, but it comes at the expense of having a trained professional come out and do it with me, at a substancial expense. At least the new owners of the house will be getting a new pump.
Oh yeah, and Alex is now 11 pounts, 9 ounces.
